WMS organizers are putting the finishing touches on the WMS conference schedule being held in conjunction with the expo floor opening day on November 5.

The WMS “Reboot Your Business” conference will give owners of woodshops of any size an opportunity to evaluate their current business practices, shop operations and technology, identify emerging opportunities and gain insight on industry challenges.

The conference program is the largest educational program in WMS history and  includes sessions on lean and advanced manufacturing , including Batch One Production, Wood Industry 4.0, and innovation.

“Canada's wood manufacturing businesses have been on the rise  - with advantages in a stable and plentiful lumber supply and improved  domestic markets.  While China's contraction has definitely had an impact on the primary forest products markets, companies such as furniture makers, cabinetry, and wood component businesses are seeing growth, “ said WMS conference director Bill Esler.

Esler said woodworking firms can insulate themselves from market turbulence by finding new revenue opportunities - such as higher value added products, even export - and by adopting best production practices and new technologies to improve yield and throughput.

The conference will also include the first-ever WMS VIP Expo Floor Tour.  During the tour, exhibitors will introduce newest products, preview future offerings, or even share beta developments with tour groups.

“Woodworking businesses need look no further than November's Wood Machinery & Supply  Show for everything they need to grow business and reboot their operations,” said Laurel Didier, with WMS producer Vance Communications Canada.
