Michael Cash, president of Axalta Coating Systems, says the biggest trends he sees is in the demand of waterborne coatings; higher glosses; different colors, effects, and looks; and polyurethane chemistry.
Philadelphia, Penn. – Axalta said it has increased the manufacturing capability for its global industrial business by investing in the 56,000-square-foot Northern Stacks complex in Fridley, Minnesota. Axalta will use the facility for research and development, focused application work for its Industrial Wood coatings business, and warehousing and coatings production across its focused business segments. The building will begin production trials next month.
Axalta Coating Systems marked its debut into the woodworking industry by exhibiting at AWFS Fair. Axalta will also be at WMS 2017 in November, in Booth 1059.

Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA)says it completed its previously announced acquisition of The Valspar Corporation’s (NYSE: VAL) North American Industrial Wood Coatings business.

Citing concerns by the Federal Trade Commission and Canadian Competition Bureaus over the proposed acquisition of The Valspar Corp. by The Sherwin-Williams Co., the two companies said they have entered into an agreement to sell Valspar’s North American Industrial Wood Coatings business to Axalta Coating Systems for $420 million in cash.
