OSHA mandates COVID protections for manufacturing workers

Furniture manufacturers, cabinetmakers and any wood products manufacturers that employ 100 or more workers will need to have their workers fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jan. 4 or get tested for the virus weekly under government rules issued Nov. 4.

Top 10 OSHA violations

According to OSHA’s most recent list of frequently cited standards, fall protection, hazard communication, and respiratory protection are the top three standards violated in fiscal year 2020, which runs from Oct. 1, 2019, to Sept. 30, 2020.

MooreCo responds to OSHA investigation

TEMPLE, Texas - MooreCo Inc., which faces about $238,929 in proposed fines for workplace injuries to employees, said that it is reviewing data from an OSHA investigation. A representative for the Temple, Texas-based company told the Kileen Daily Herald newspaper that the company was “committed to improving employee safety.” Calls to the company CEO have not been returned.

Wood Week: Yorktowne Cabinetry closing, OSHA wood fines

Yorktowne Cabinetry is closing the Red Lion, PA plant. OSHA moved this week to fine wood firms, charging Trautschold Millwork with amputation risks; heads rolled at Kid Brands' LaJobi unit over China wood furniture import duty payments; and Pepsi barked back with a plastic bottle using pine bark.
