Wood door manufacturer Masonite International Corp. plans to close its Kirkwood, NY, plant, laying off approximately 64 workers.

Masonite International Corporation has added yet another door manufacturer to its portfolio, acquiring Lemieux Doors Inc. of Windsor, QC.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Marshfield DoorSystems Inc.with one repeat and two alleged serious violations after a worker's hand became caught in an ingoing nip point on a conveyor belt line in March, resulting in contusions, abrasions and friction burns.

Masonite has signed an agreement to acquire Marshfield DoorSystems Inc. The transaction is expected to close immediately following regulatory approval. 2010 revenues for Marshfield exceeded $100 million.
