When the conversation turns to convenient living, this often includes extremely functional furniture and furnishings that adapt themselves to the individual requirements of the user at all times. The trend is clearly moving in the direction of furniture electrification: Small, quiet electric motors move sliding doors, raise and lower worktops and entire tables, open the flaps of wall units and innovative lighting systems improve visibility in the furniture. Nagold hardware innovator Häfele showed the latest products of comfort living at interzum in a special booth area.

Under the motto “Häfele Engineering – turning ideas into reality, together”, the industrial division of Häfele Group used a concept cabinet to demonstrate how partnerships with the furniture industry result in solutions that offer tangible value to partners during interzum 2013 in Cologne.

Interzum, the hardware, lumber, panel and furniture production show, ended its 2013 run in Cologne with 53,000 visitors - up slightly from 2011, and with 1,512 exhibitors, an increase of 100 over last time.

Interzum, a trade fair for furniture production and interior finishing released its 2013 Final Report.

Fittings manufacturer Julius Blum is second in Austria’s patents ranking. The company’s innovative edge culiminates in its nomination for the European Inventor Award 2013.

Blum strives to bring greater user convenience to furniture (especially in kitchens) and made the most of this year’s interzum to discuss its latest study on ergonomic wall cabinets with experts from all over the world.

Tradeshow visitors again forwent their tradeshow gifts and signed Blum’s visitors’ book for a good cause. The interzum donation will be used to finance eye operations in the poor regions of the world.
