TEMPE, Ariz. -- Furniture industry orders contracted the most of overall industries, and wood products manufacturers ranked third in terms of contraction in September 2022 compared to August. In addition, while economic activity in the manufacturing sector grew in September, with the overall economy achieving a 28th consecutive month of growth, the overall Manufacturing PMI dropped to its lowest level since May 2020, according to the latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Furniture orders are down according to recently released studies such as one by Smith Leonard, and the Manufacturing ISM Report On Business.

Despite supply chain delays and labor issues, furniture was the second-fastest growth  industry of the top 15 manufacturing industries tracked by the Institute for Supply Management.

The furniture manufacturing industry experienced strong sales and orders in October and was ranked as the third highest growth sector in the rankings compiled by the Institute for Supply Managements (ISM) in its latest report on manufacturing activity.
