U.S. home improvement retailer Lowe's Companies received approval for the purchase of the Canadian home improvement company Rona.

A new study from HomeAdvisor says the U.S. home improvement industry will be severely impacted by unprecedented skilled labor shortage.

As the year kicks into high gear, after a busy spring and a strong start to the summer construction months, remodeling studies, surveying both professionals and homeowners, suggest optimism and continued growth for the industry for the remainder of 2015.The National Association of Remodelers (NARI) released its first quarter report which indicated NARI members were in a better position over the same period the year prior, and those members also felt very optimistic about business conditions.

Remodeling spending is expected to reach record levels this year with Baby Boomers and Millennials driving the bulk of the spending, according to the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University (JCHS).

Home improvement giant Lowe’s will hire approximately 30,000 seasonal springtime employees this year.
