Kitchen Cabinet Distributors has expanded its footprint with the grand opening of a 180,000-square-foot showroom and distribution center in Houston, Texas.
The $40 million Biewer Sawmill-Newton expansion will increase mill production 100 million board feet a year, to 350 MMBF, and will create 45 additional jobs, bringing employment at the Mississippi facility to approximately 170 workers.
CONYERS, Ga. – German machine manufacturer G. Kraft Maschinenbau GmbH has opened a North American subsidiary, Kraft Machines Inc. Located in Conyers, Georgia, the company provides special-purpose machinery, including machines for flooring, doors and frames, material handling systems, as well as packing solutions for woodworking companies. Kraft Machines will be showcasing its product line at IWF, Booth C-3046. North America's largest woodworking trade show, IWF takes place Aug. 22-25 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Georgia-Pacific will build a $150 million softwood lumber facility in Albany, Georgia. Construction on the 320,000-square-foot facility is expected to start later this year, with startup projected for late 2019. When fully operational, the plant will employ 130 people.
Philadelphia, Penn. – Axalta said it has increased the manufacturing capability for its global industrial business by investing in the 56,000-square-foot Northern Stacks complex in Fridley, Minnesota. Axalta will use the facility for research and development, focused application work for its Industrial Wood coatings business, and warehousing and coatings production across its focused business segments. The building will begin production trials next month.

VILLA RICA, Ga. - Leuco Tool Corp. has broken ground on the expansion of its administration and production building in Villa Rica, Georgia. The tooling manufacturer said years of continuous growth resulted in the company reaching its limit in terms of available space. The modern, expanded building will house a showroom, training center, office and production areas, as well as an updated employee break room.
MERCERSBURG, Penn. – Hardwood lumber producer Pennsylvania Cherry LLC will invest $15 million to open a new mill in Mercersburg Borough, Pennsylvania. More than 40 new jobs will be created in the next three years at the kiln-dried cherry operation.
ORLEANS, Ind. – Renovations are already underway at Jasper Group's newly acquired 1.2 million square-foot facility as the company announces plans to expand its furniture manufacturing operations and create more than 300 new jobs by 2021.
