Ferndale Wood Treatment Company Fined Over $25,000

Chemco, a company that manufactures wood treatment chemicals, will pay $25,400 for improper and late reporting on the use of two chemicals from 2005-2008, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The company, located in Ferndale, Washington, failed to properly report its use and releases of formaldehyde and methanol.

Chilkoot Lumber Company and owner fined $9,500

Chilkoot Lumber Company, located in Haines, Alaska, and its owner, Edward Lapeyri, will pay $9,500 for improperly storing and failing to repair leaking transformers that contained toxic PCBs, according to a settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Window World of St. Louis to Pay $19,529 Penalty

Window World of St. Louis, Inc., has agreed to pay a $19,529 civil penalty to the United States to settle allegations that it failed to notify owners and occupants of at least 20 St. Louis area residential properties built before 1978 of lead-based paint risks prior to performing renovation work at those locations.
