American Forest & Paper Association President and CEO Donna Harman today issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to stay the Boiler MACT and CISWI rules.

As previously announced, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking additional public feedback and gathering more information on the final standards for boilers and certain solid waste incinerators that were issued in February 2011.

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) is delaying enforcement of its controversial MACT Boiler and solid waste incineration (CISWI) rules, allowing the acceptance of additional public comments through July 15.

WASHINGTON – In response to federal court orders requiring the issuance of final standards, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is issuing final Clean Air Act standards for boilers and certain incinerators that achieve significant public health protections through reductions in toxic air emissions, including mercury and soot, but cut the cost of implementation by about 50 percent from an earlier proposal issued last year.
