Jan. 1 marks the implementation date for Phase 2 of the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) formaldehyde rule. For composite panel manufacturers, fabricators and distributors, this means your particleboard products must now meet the lower emission standards of 0.09 ppm, while products made of MDF must not exceed emissions levels of 0.11 ppm — about half of what was previously allowable for both types of composite panels.
