Re-bent Oak Bent Wood Chair
I have two, oak, bent wood chairs. When I took them apart and started to refinish them, the chair backs fit the anchor points on the chair seat. Well, as life happens this happened many years ago and when I retrieved this project from the attic storage of my workshop, much to my chagrin the oak backs had "lost" some of their bending so that they are inches away from lining up to the anchor points on the chair seats. Do I need to steam bend them again? Can I get away from soaking them in water and pulling them together until they fit and can be anchored down? I do not currently have the means to steam the chair backs, but I do have the means to soak them in water for a period of time. I am willing to do whatever to re-bend these chair backs and refinish these very interesting bent wood chairs. I can send images or measurements if this would help. Thank you in advance for your expert advice!
