Founded in 1901, the family-owned Gerber Wood Products combines technology and craftsmanship, while exhibiting good environmental stewardship.

An FSC-certified company, Gerber sells its wood products domestically as well as internationally, supplying a range of LEED and other projects. Said President/CEO Steve Gerber, “Selling FSC lumber has also helped us [obtain] several new customers.”

Cornucopia of Components

In addition to handrails, architectural mouldings and stair parts, Gerber produces promotional and speciality items, including plaques, orchestra conductor baton boxes and the Snooze iPhone alarm dock.

Inside the 50,000-square-foot Kidron, OH-based facility, a variety of machinery is used for manufacturing. Included are: Weinig and Leadermac moulders and Newman-Whitney, Paul and Baker sawing solutions. A Weinig/Grecon fingerjointer and Doucet clamp carriers are also used. A Weinig Rondamat grinder is in place for tooling needs.

Gerber’s capabilities include S4S jointing and bending handrails up to 24 feet long. Also unique is its One-Joint rail, available in lengths up to 30 feet.

The company was one of eight woodworking facilities recently toured as part of the 2013 Wood Component Manufacturers Association's annual Conference and Plant Tour Event in September.
