Wood Components Group Elects New Officers, Honors LawserMINNEAPOLIS -- At its annual fall meeting, the Wood Component Manufacturers Assn. announced its slate of officers for the new term. The WCMA Fall Conference and Plant Tour Event was held Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Minneapolis.

Keith Malmstadt of Great Lake Woods, Inc, Holland, MI, and Guy Morin of Giguére & Morin Inc.. St-Felix de Kingsey, QUE, were elected to three-year terms. The two had previously held positions on the WCMA board of directors. They join: WCMA President Steve Sabatini of Bradford Dimension Specialties, Bradford, PA; Vice President Paul Dow of Yoder Lumber Co., Inc, Millersburg, OH; Past President Keith Atherholt of Lewis Lumber Products, Picture Rocks, PA; Sid Anderson, III of Anderson Wood Products, Louisville, KY; Greg Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick & Weller, Ellicottville, NY; Tim McIntyre, Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers, Auburn, ME; and Steve Mashl, Valley Custom Door, DePere, WI.

WCMA Honors Lawser on Retirement

Wood Components Group Elects New Officers, Honors LawserDuring the meeting, a plaque was presented to WCMA Executive Director Steve Lawser for appreciation of his 29 years of service to the association. In presenting the plaque, Sabatini noted Lawser’s impact on the association, and on the industry as a whole.

Lawser’s career with the WCMA began in 1983. Under his leadership, the wood components association grew from 27 member companies to a high of 156 members and 56 Technology Partners in 2007. Today, it has 105 members and 40 Technology Partners.

Lawser was also instrumental in developing a buyer’s guide for members and end users. The 29th annual Wood Component Buyer’s Guide was published in the July issue of Wood & Wood Products magazine and is also available as a digital edition.

Lawser has said he will continue to lead the WCMA until the end of the year.
