PUEBLO, CO - Westwind Wood Specialties is planning to move from Qunter, KS, to Pueblo to expand its custom wood cabinet component operations, including the hiring of 90 new workers over the next two years.
The relocation of the 13-year-old business is expected to be completed by March, according to The Pueblo Chieftain. Owner Troy Deaton told the newspaper that he could not find enough workers in Quinter (population 919) to fulfill his expansion plans. Quinter has a population of 900 vs. a Pueblo's population of approximately 107,600.
Westwind Wood Specialties, which reportedly had sales of $2.5 millionfor its cabinet door, drawer and moulding products last year, expects to employ 35 workers this year and add 55 more workers in 2014. The company is receiving a $910,000 job incentive grant from the city of Pueblo economic development fund that is financed by a half-cent sales tax.
