The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced The XPW (Extreme Performance for Wood) technology to its Woodpecker Premium and Woodpecker PRO Band Saw Blade lines, to significantly increase cutting performance in a wide range of wood sawing applications.
The New XPW tooth design in the Woodpecker Premium and PRO blades, available in 1.3 and 1.1 tooth pitches in blades 1 inch and larger, feature a deeper gullet than previous Woodpecker blades. The new design enables higher fatigue resistance, longer lifespan, and improved cutting performance, quality, and finish.
Starrett Woodpecker Premium Band Saw Blades feature a hardened spring-tempered carbon steel back and positive angle precision set teeth. Blades are available as thin as .020" (0.5mm) for contour cutting of fine hardwoods, and thicker blades for sawing applications such as lumber, and are compatible with all types of machines and a full range of softwoods, hard or exotic woods.
Woodpecker Premium blades are offered in widths and thicknesses from ¼” x .020” to 2 9/16” x .042” with either skip or hook tooth shapes, in pitches ranging from 1.1 TPI to 6 TPI.
Starrett Woodpecker PRO Band Saw Blades are electron beam welded bi-metal blades manufactured from high-speed M-42 steel containing 8% cobalt, with a Rockwell tooth hardness of C67-69, ensuring exceptionally long blade life and high fatigue resistance. Woodpecker PRO enables high performance sawing with precise cuts and minimal waste whether in fine contour cutting or tough applications, such as lumber, in a wide range of softwoods, hard or exotic woods. Woodpecker PRO blades are compatible with all types of machines and are offered in widths and thicknesses from ¼” x .025” to 2” x .063” with a hook tooth shape, in pitches ranging from 1.1 TPI to 6 TPI.
All Starrett Woodpecker Blades can be re-sharpened. In addition, Starrett now offers two new Grinding Wheels for sharpening XPW blades, one for sharpening blades with a 1.1 pitch, and one for blades with a 1.3 pitch.
