Seven forestry companies have filed a $215 million lawsuit against Pacific Gas & Electric alleging that the utility company caused the massive Dixie Fire that burned for more than 103 days, destroying nearly 1- million acres of the Sierra Nevada Forest and costing $637.4 million to fight.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota’s Badlands is scheduled to start construction in April, and the 26th president of the U.S. is being honored with a mass-timber building. Mercer Mass Timber (MMT), a low-carbon advanced manufacturer of timber building materials and a subsidiary of Mercer International Inc., announced that it will provide mass timber for the library. The company said the project honors the president’s legacy of conservation by utilizing locally sourced and renewable resources, like mass timber.

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Neiman Enterprises announced it was laying off 50 employees, about 25% of the workforce at its Spearfish Forest Products sawmill.The layoffs will also result in production reductions at Neiman’s last remaining South Dakota facility.The company said cuts are the direct result of reductions to the Black Hills National Forest timber sale program.
