WINNIPEG, Manitoba. - For students who wish to pursue an education in home furnishings manufacturing and design, Palliser’s DeFehr Foundation will award $20,000 annually though the Palliser North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Scholarship.

Per year, four students who apply to one of four qualified schoools will be awarded $5,000. The selected universities - Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios superiores de Monterrey Torreon, Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios superiores de Monterrey Saltillo, High Point University School of Home Furnishings Business, and Winnipeg, Manitoba School of Architecture - are located in areas where the company has a strong connection.

"We are so pleased that the DeFehr Foundation could support young adults across North America as they embark on their careers," said Art DeFehr, chairman of the DeFehr Foundation. "We believe that it’s our responsibility to encourage and support future generations to obtain an education, returning the generosity that generations before us provided."

The DeFehr Foundation Scholarship Fund is offered to college bound high school seniors with applicants attending or plan to attend a two- or four-year college, and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to first-generation college students and those seeking careers in the home furnishings industry, design, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.

"We believe strongly in giving back to the communities where we have a presence," said Cary Benson, president and CEO of Palliser. "This scholarship program allows us to positively impact the families across North America. We wanted to especially focus on families who might be sending a first-generation to college or university."
