I’m a complete novice when it comes to working with wood. I found an old trunk in my basement that I’m trying to sand down and refinish. I started the sanding process and noticed a strange, light colored zebra pattern running diagonal across the natural grain. Any ideas what this is and how to correct it? I assume because it’s lighter, it will absorb the stain differently and won’t look very good. Any help is greatly appreciated!
