MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Woodworking machinery manufacturer Mereen-Johnson will commemorate 110 years in business with a celebration on June 11. The Minneapolis, MN-based firm said the event will be held in conjunction with a meeting at it South Dakota manufacturing facility.

Founded in 1905, the company traces its roots back to 1901, when Arno Mereen and Charles Johnson invented the industry's first horizontal slab resaw while employed at a local sawmill, C.A. Smith Lumber Co. By 1916, demand for the machinery grew and a foundry was built four years later. In addition to the resaw, other introductions by the company include: feed-through tenoning and plywood sizing machinery (1938); ceiling tiling sizing machinery (1945); the dip chain gang ripsaw (1963); the computerized panel saw (CPS) in 1969; and the Challengers Awards-winning Select-A-Rip shifting saw blade (1986) and CamLock quick fixed blade positioning system (2004).

In addition to the above mentioned products, Mereen-Johnson also produces: rip optimizing and material handling systems, CNC dovetailers, I-joist and other structural wood production lines, door sizing lines, laminate trim lines, and also customized rough mill systems integrated with vision optimizing systems.
