PARKERSBURG, W.VA. -- Create a brand-new toy or your version of a favorite toy, and enter it in the Wooden Toys Challenge contest sponsored by Woodcraft and Instructables. For details and to enter through Jan. 9, 2017, visit Instructables.com.
“Wooden toys have delighted children from earliest times, and this contest offers the ‘creative makers’ out there an opportunity to discover a new toy or a different way to make an existing toy,” said Vince Grlovich, Woodcraft vice president for sales and marketing. “In the process, some of these toy makers may be introduced to wood for the first time, while others may improve their woodworking skills. In both cases Woodcraft’s goals to inspire new woodworkers and help existing woodworkers become more skilled will be met.”
Described as The World’s Biggest Show and Tell, Instructables.com attracts 30 million plus viewers each month to its web-based documentation platform that allows creators to share what they do and how they do it, as well as learn from and collaborate with others. Besides offering a place to showcase and store new projects, Instructables also sponsors ongoing competitions.
Once entered, each toy project will appear on Instructables.com, and members may vote for any entry. Once the contest is closed, a panel of judges, including Instructables staff members and members of the Instructables community, will rate the finalists. The averages of the ratings will determine the winners. Winners will be announced on the contest page.
Grand prize for the winner is a DeWalt Model DW788 scroll saw provided by Woodcraft. First prize of a Detail Carving Tool Set from Woodcraft will be awarded to each of 20 winners.
Woodcraft is also sponsoring a Tables and Desks Contest on Instructables.com that began Nov. 2 and will continue through Jan. 2, 2017.
