GRAND PRAIRIE, TX -- A former employee of Texas Plywood and Lumber Co. Inc. was sentenced to one year of deferred adjudication after pleading guilty to a workers' compensation fraud-related charge.

In addition, Ronaldo Martins of Irving, TT, was ordered to pay $2,850 in restitution to Texas Mutual Insurance Company.

According to Texas Mututal Insurance, Martins reportedly collected $22,283 in worker's compensation payments. He reported a job-related injury while working as a driver for Texas Plywood and said he was unable to work as a result of the injury. Texas Plywood is a third-generation owned millwork manufacturer and raw material distributor.

While claiming income benefits from Texas Mutual that totaled $22,283, it was discovered that Martins was "double dipping," working as an equipment operator for the city of Irving.
