Wisconsin DNR sponsors a quartet of pre-Forest Products Week mill tours

Action Floor Systems is one of the mill tours that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is helping organize this month.

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has lined up a series of mill tours at four forest product manufacturing facilities across the state Oct. 14-18.

The DNR’s sponsored tours will afford attendees a chance to see how products are made from Wisconsin’s forest resources and learn about the many career opportunities that exist in the state’s forest products industry ahead of National Forest Products Week, a national celebration of forest products Oct. 20-26.

Tour locations include MacDonald & Owen Lumber Co., Action Floor Systems LLC, Menominee Tribal Enterprises and Stella-Jones Corporation.

The tours are open to anyone age 16 and older with an interest in forest products or those considering it as a career path. High school students, technical college students and the public are encouraged to attend.

Each of the tours will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 14: MacDonald & Owen Lumber Co.,, 230 S. Duncan St., Luck, Wis.
Tuesday, Oct. 15: Action Floor Systems LLC, 4781 Highway 51, Mercer, Wis.
Wednesday, Oct. 16: Menominee Tribal Enterprises. N3580 Highway 47, Neopit, Wis.
Friday, Oct. 18: Stella-Jones Corp., W1038 County Road U, Bangor, Wis.

Participants are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Safety glasses and hearing protection will be provided if needed.
