LAKE COUNTY, OR - Wind energy developer Iberdrola Renewables is working with wood products firm Collins Cos. to develop a biomass energy plant in Lake County, OR.
According to the Daily Journal of Commerce, plans call for Iberdrola to build the biomass plant near a Collins Co. softwood lumber mill. The plant would generate 25 megawatts of electricity and employ 18 people.
This would be the second biomass plant for Irberdrola. The company completed a $90 million biomass cogeneration plant in Tacoma, WA, for Simpson Tackoma Kraft Co. That plant has the capacity to generate 55 megawatts of electricity.
Based in Portland, Oregon and family-owned since 1855, Collins produces high quality
wood products including; engineered wood siding and trim, softwoods, hardwoods,
millwork, veneers, and particleboard. Collins also features a full line of FSC-certified
wood products.
