LEXINGTON, N.C. - A $500,000 loan was provided by the State of North Carolina to remodel a building for reuse by Westport Bay, a bathroom-cabinetry manufacturer whose expansion will create 25 new jobs.
The City of Lexington received a Community Development Block Grant for the renovation of a building on North Church Street. The city received $500,000 in funding to improve roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system and lighting of a building to be used by Westport Bay. The bathroom-cabinetry manufacturer will create 25 new jobs with a total capital investment of $1 million.
Tammy Absher, executive director of the City of Lexington Business and Community Development, said she is very excited about receiving this funding and reestablishing industry in the city.
“This is part of bringing manufacturing back to the community,” Absher said. “Steve has been very successful in establishing these partnerships and has done a really super job interacting with the state and bringing those dollars here. … He has brought a lot of jobs to the area through these grants.”
The brand is sold by Wal-Mart.
Funds will be used to improve roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system and lighting.
