The Window & Door Manufacturers Assn.'s Jeff Lowinski was among the presenters at the recently held 6th annual Global Wooden Door Forum in Beijing, China.

More than 450 people attended the Forum presentations, which included speakers from Germany, Serbia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Poland, Chile, Italy, the UK and China.

For his presentation, Lowinski, WDMA's vice president of technical services, focused on the adoption and expansion of door standards within China, and on the use of performance based testing requirements for door construction and operation. "The Chinese door market is enormous, the result of their rapidly expanding economy," said Lowinski. "China's appetite will increase not only for domestically produced doors, but for high-quality imported products as well."

Lowinski also participated in an open discussion with delegates from China, Europe and Indonesia on the direction and future of the door industry within China. The Forum was coupled with the 10th annual CIDE-2011, China International Door Industry Exposition. The four-day event, held March 9-12, covered 1 million square feet of exhibit space and had an estimated 100,000 attendees.
