ATLANTA - The Home Depot says it will provide $1 million in funding for scholarships and grants under an expanded program for students enrolled in building and construction trade programs. This year's program more than triples the amount of funding The Home Depot provided when it first established the program in 2009.
Up to 500 students will be eligible for $1,000 individual scholarships, plus $1,000 matching grants will be provided for their schools through The Home Depot Foundation. Applicants must apply by April 30; recipients will be notified in September.
The home improvement chain says The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program will recognize more than 500 students nationwide that are on track to graduate within the next 12 months with the $1,000 scholarship to help offset the cost of their qualifying tuition and related expenses. Information on the program is at www.homedepot.com/tradescholarship; or call 1-877-7HD-LEARN (1-877-743-5327). Help lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
