Among top wood industry reports this week: an articulated bandsaw from Italy was a hit at WoodworkingNetwork after it showed at IWF 2012 last month. Uniboard's sale, Haworth's closure and Chinese-made bamboo cabinets were also highly viewed.
The articulated bandsaw from MD Dario at IWF 2012 caused a lot of on-line buzz, both at WoodworkingNetwork and at our Facebook site. The saw pivots to move around a stationary workpiece. There’s even a multiple work station where the saw arm pivots around a central point to service four separate pieces, at four work stations. A video shows how it works.
Wal-mart's entry into home improvement was a sleeper in the top news story. It's testing the concept, which is prevalent at competitor Costco, of partnering with with local home improvement and remodeling firms. Wal-Mart is testing it with West Shore Window & Door in Pennsylvania.
