ZEELAND, MI – Symbiote, a furniture manufacturer, has expanded its operations in Zeeland in a move that officials says will create seven new jobs.

Symbiote, which makes furniture such as work tables and storage for the biotechnology, education, healthcare and security industries, invested $626,000 to expand its operations, according to Lakeshore Advantage, an economic development organization.

The expansion will add 4,670 feet of space to Symbiote’s existing facility. The expansion will allow Symbiote to move forward with long-planned, long-term goals of incorporating new technologies and equipment in its operations.

“This addition, along with reorganizing our current space, has created the necessary room for new state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities,” said Barrett Randolph, Symbiote president. “This puts Symbiote in a great position to support the rapidly growing laboratory furniture market.”

The city of Zeeland is supporting this project in the form of a 12-year Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption that was approved on April 4.
