Riverside Furniture Corp. to Consolidate Operations, Cut 250 Jobs
FORT SMITH, AK – Riverside Furniture Corp. announced it will lay off approximately 250 employees once consolidation of two plant operations is complete Jan. 12, according to the Times Record.

A news release from the company said its workforce reduction is in “response to the sharp decline in furniture sales as a result of the global financial crisis of the last few weeks.”

The combining of the company’s plant 2 and plant 6 into a single operation will require the elimination of positions in manufacturing, administration, sales and marketing and all support plants, including Riverside’s rough mill and dimension plant in Russellville.
