Researchers Look to Turn Cow Pies into Furniture Panels

DETROIT Researchers at Michigan State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are working on a process to turn sterilized cow manure into fiberboard for use in furniture, shelving, flooring and more.

Charles Gould of Michigan State’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, told AP, "It appears that the fibers interlock with each other better than wood. We end up with, I think a superior material."

The researchers are working on a final report of their pilot study.
