OTTAWA, ON -- Studies of forests, quick-grow trees and biomass will get part of a $60 million Canadian government grant. The Government of Canada will fund 16 applied research projects several in forestry and lumber related areas.
Researchers will explore the how to make Canada's forests more sustainable, including identifying common tree diseases; using genomics to develop short-rotation, fast-growing trees for use in biofuel production; and studying growing mis-matches between native tree species and as climate shifts among other topics.
