SYRACUSE, IN — The new, 5.5-acre building being constructed to house the expanding operations of outdoor furniture manufacturer Poly-Wood Inc. measures 234,000 square feet: large enough to house three football fields, the Goshen News is reporting.

“I think it is very fitting that we are conducting this groundbreaking ceremony on the 25th anniversary of the founding of this company,” president Doug Rassi told News reporter Roger Schneider on Thursday morning. “Twenty-five years ago the first Poly-Wood Adirondack chair was built here in Kosciusko County,” Rassi said.

Poly-Wood has since grown into a company that supplies plastic outdoor furniture made from recycled milk and other plastic containers. The company’s market is nationwide and international, according to Sharon Howell, lead creative for the firm. She added that the company has 260 employees and the addition of the 5.5 acre building to house warehousing and other operations will mean another 250 people will need to be hired.

Rassi said new positions will include CNC machine operators. Those interested in applying can go to the company’s website for information.
