ALBANY, NY  -- Gov. David Patterson signed a bill prohibiting the sale, import, manufacture and distribution of drop-side-cribs state wide.

The new law takes effect in October, according to NY1 News.

New York reportedly is the ninth state to ban drop-side crib sales and distribution. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is working on new crib safety regulations that would effectively ban the sale and resale of drop-side cribs nationwide.
