WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- All manufacturing of Newport Specialty Machinery has been transferred to Williamsport at Hermance Machine Co., effective January 1, 2019. The assets of Newport Specialty Machinery have been purchased by Hermance, and the new branding of the line will be known as Newport Machine Co.

Newport will manufacture a wide range of specialized machines for the window, door, and cabinet industry, as well as custom machines for other industries.

Newport Specialty Machinery was started by Bo Misiasik, who will remain with the new organization as the head of engineering and manager of Newport products as well as Hapfo lathes, Rehnen sanding equipment, and Engelhardt machines.

Hermance Machine has been in continuous operation since 1902 on the same property, even in some of the original buildings. Starting as a woodworking machinery manufacturer, Hermance has evolved into a supplier of wood, plastics, and composite machines.

“The move allows us to manufacture machines to meet our customers’ needs where we have struggled finding existing equipment that meets our own, as well as our customers’ quality, value, and application expectations,” said Ian
and Matthew Strouse of Hermance,

“We hope to be able to ramp up production capacity to reduce lead times as well as design new machinery to help our customers improve their manufacturing operations.”
