Newly formed wood pellet company invests $5.4 million in SC plant

EFFINGHAM, S.C. - Wood pellet manufacturer and distributor Effingham Pellets will invest $5.4 million to set up operations in South Carolina, creating 10 new jobs.
 
A subsidiary of Charles Ingram Lumber Company, the newly formed Effingham will create wood pellets for European power plants.
 
"We are excited to begin operations in Florence County, where we will be able to produce power solutions that promote sustainability on an international scale," an official at Effingham Pellets, LLC said. "Effingham Pellets, LLC looks forward to being an important partner to Charles Ingram Lumber Company and the community as a whole."
 
Production is set to begin by June 2021.
 
Charles Ingram Lumber Co., also located in Effingham, is a family-owned lumber company specializing in Southern Yellow Pine. It produces 120 million board feet of it annually.
