DES PLAINES, IL — The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), a trade association dedicated solely to the remodeling industry, launched the Universal Remodeling—Creating Comfortable and Accessible Homes education program on Oct. 31. The program is designed to teach remodelers how to interview clients with an understanding and consideration of their special needs, how to build these projects and the seven principles of Universal Remodeling, according to North Carolina University’s The Center for Universal Design, which include equitable use, flexibility in use, simple and intuitive use, perceptible information, tolerance for error, low physical effort, and size and space for approach and use.

“The Universal Remodeling program is so important because it will provide remodelers with the expertise for remodeling with today, tomorrow and well into the future, in mind for their customer,” says Bryce Jacob, chair of the Universal Remodeling Education Sub-Committee. “Our members will learn how to dig deeper into the dynamics of their clients’ lives so their remodeling solutions will better serve their clients’ entire family.”
