VANCOUVER, B.C.— Metrie becomes North America's largest MDF moulding manufacturer following its acquisition of Pacific MDF Products Inc. and Canadian MDF Products Co., collectively known as Pac Trim. Pacific MDF Products is based in Rocklin, California, and Canadian MDF Products is based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Metrie also has MDF moulding manufacturing facilities in Toronto, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta, as well as a softwood manufacturing facility in Ferndale, Washington, and a pre-finished manufacturing facility in Surrey, British Columbia. The company said the Pac Trim acquisition provides it with entry into the California market, expands its customer reach, and adds to its overall footprint and production capabilities in Western Canada and the West/Pacific Northwest region in the United States.

“During these challenging times, Metrie is well-positioned for continued growth. Our acquisition of Pac Trim complements our manufacturing capabilities, so we can better serve our customers’ needs," said Kent Bowie, president and CEO of Metrie.

"This investment represents an important strategic opportunity for Metrie and its channel partners,” he added. “Expanding our manufacturing footprint and entering the California market are both great opportunities for us, and we’re looking forward to growing our business in these two key areas.”

Founded in 1926, the interior millwork company's operations include six solid wood and MDF manufacturing facilities, plus 19 distribution centers located throughout the United States and Canada. Metrie is currently ranked 35 on the FDMC 300 listing of the largest wood products producers in North America.
