ORLEANS, Vt. – Workers were sent home from an Ethan Allen furniture plant in Orleans, Vt.,  on Monday, July 11, because of a fire that was sparked by a malfunctioning boiler.

According to news station WCAX, embers from a chip silo started other small fires. All of the fires were extinguished and no workers were injured.

This was not the first fire at this facility. In 2013, a fire damaged two sawdust silos at the furniture manufacturer's Orleans plant. In July 2014, a fire started when an overheated bearing on a piece of equipment transferred sawdust between silos. The heat generated caused a fire in one of the dust collection silos.

In 2021, Furniture Today reported that a worker was putting sawdust in a 55-gallon drum and a spark started by static electricity caught the sawdust on fire.
