ANTIGO, WI -- Kretz Lumber Co. Inc. entered into a partnership with the Ruffed Society, Marathon County Forestry Department and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to help restore 100 acres of mostly abandoned farmland in northern Wisconsin as a habitat for woodcocks. Gary Zimmer, regional biologist for the Ruffed Grouse Society, said, “The dense cover utilized by feeding woodcock was becoming more open and less favorable. It was definitely time to look into options for habitat regeneration. This project will increase its use by breeding and migrating woodcock.” Read more.
