ASHEBORO, NC -- Upholstered furniture producer Klaussner Co. announced it will close its furniture manufacturing plant in Milford, IA, putting more than 100 people out of work.

Klaussner will consolidate its operations in North Carolina; the company operates nine manufacturing plants there, according to the Sioux City Journal.

The 360.000-square-foot Milford plant was started by Stylecraft Furniture in 1968 and purchased by Klaussner in 1986.

A management team led by CEO Bill Wittenbert purchased Klaussner from its owner Hans Klaussner in April.
