JASPER, IN - Kimball International, Inc is consolidating all metal fabrication production from its Post Falls, Idaho location into three company-owned facilities in Southern Indiana.
The company says the transition is intended to improve customer delivery and supply-chain dynamics, and to reduce transportation costs. Kimball noted that 80% of its installed customer base is located east of Denver.
Over the next seven to eight quarters, the company will invest $9.5 million as it equips one Indiana facility with metal fabrication capabilities and transfers assembly operations to thetwo additional facilities.
Kimball International chose the time frame to prevent customer disruptions during realignment. Bob Schneider, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Kimball International, says the plan will also provide Post Falls employees with an extended period of time to find other employment.
Schneider emphasized that the decision did not reflect the performance of the Post Falls employees.
“Our employees at Post Falls have a great work ethic and an excellent record for quality, reliability and dedication. I’m proud of their service to our customers,” Schneider said.
