Kewaunee Scientific Lab Cabinetry and Millwork Sales Rose 6 %
Kewaunee Scientific Customer Needed Shipping Containers

STATESVILLE, NC-- Kewaunee Scientific said sales of laboratory cabinetry and millwork rose 6% to $27.75 million in the 3rd quarter. U.S. sales fell, but international sales increased 73% to $7.7 million following shipments of several large orders.

Earnings for the quarter were $484,000, as compared to net earnings of $604,000 in the third quarter last year.

Domestic sales for the quarter were $20 million, a decline of 7.1%. The domestic laboratory construction marketplace was challenging, particularly for educational laboratory construction projects, Kewaunee said, though it noted a pickup in bids for future work.

"Historically, the third quarter is our most challenging quarter," said David M. Rausch, CEO (below). "Our third quarter domestic business was impacted by both the concentration of the number of holidays and the weather conditions that affected construction project schedules."Kewaunee CEO David Rausch
