PERRY, Kansas – Wood Haven likes a good challenge and this was one. The Kansas company was asked to build giant ribs for an outdoor garden.
Wood Haven’s Jim Guffey said that all these ribs made out of thermally modified Southern yellow pine. The image shown is the smallest rib assembled. Some are over 30 feet tall.
Modus is the architect and CDI the general contractor for this project.
Guffey said that Wood Haven mostly manufactures high end Rainscreen siding. The company was the first to develop and market a hidden fastener for Rainscreen siding. In addition, they have three new products and attachment systems are being brought out shortly.
As far as getting this job, Guffey said the company does a lot of thermally modified wood and the contractor reached out to them for a quote.
