CHARLOTTE, North Carolina JELD-WEN plans to shut down its window manufacturing plant in Grinnell, Iowa, effective March 21.

According to Iowa WARN’s notice of layoffs, 298 people will lose their jobs. The action comes on the heel of the company’s action to lay off 152 workers at the plant last fall.

The closing of the Grinnell plant furthers what Jeld-Wen has dubbed its “transformation journey.” Last year JELD-WEN also closed manufacturing plants in Vista, California; Hawkins, Wisconsin; and Wedowee, Alabama.

Last month, JELD-WEN finalized the sale of its plant in Towanda, Pennsylvania, to Woodgrain Inc.

JELD-WEN reported a third quarter net loss of $73 million from continuing operations on revenues of $934.7 million. The company ranks No. 5 in the most recently published FMDC 300.
