COLOGNE, GERMANY

- The 2011 Interzum Best of the Best awards were presented in a celebratory event tonight which included festive drumming, live jazz, and distribution of winners and runners up in major categories for design and innovation in wood and furnishings industries materials.

The Interzum Best of the Best awards are organized and presented every two years by koelnmesse in cooperation with red dot, an internationally respected design organization.

The design and innovation competition has also internationally developed into one of the most coveted awards within the wood and furnishings manufacturing sector. This year, the award, which is presented in three different categories,

is being staged for the sixth time, the categories:

 -Materials and Surfaces
 -Fittings, Glass and Light
 -Upholstered Furniture Manufacturing and Bedding

In 2011, a total of 124 companies from 19 different countries submitted 208 products for consideration. A professional jury selected the winning products, which will be exhibited at the ‘Messeboulevard’ venue during the interzum trade show here in Cologne from May 25 to 28, 2011.

The festive drumming at the Interzum Best of the Best awards carried a wood industry theme, with drummers playing tables, chairs, doors, and drums of finishing solution.
