International Wood Products Association marks successful World of Wood Convention

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The International Wood Products Association (IWPA) has marked another successful World of Wood Convention, held March 26–28 at the JW Marriott in New Orleans, Louisiana. More than 25 countries were represented at this year’s gathering, where industry professionals convened for three days of high-impact programming, networking, and celebration.

“This year’s World of Wood Convention continued our tradition of bringing together leaders from across the global wood products sector for knowledge-sharing, outlooks on trade and tariffs, and business development,” said IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon. “From policy updates to personal connections, attendees walked away energized and informed.”

At the conclusion of the event, IWPA held its ceremonial passing of the gavel during a champagne toast. Bryan Courtney, director of Industrial Products at Genesis Products, officially assumed the IWPA Presidency from outgoing President Colin Miller, vice president of Technology and Sustainability at Clarke Veneers and Plywood and Managing Director of 11Foundry.

“We thank Colin for his thoughtful and steady leadership during a pivotal time for the industry,” said Amidon. “We look forward to another strong year with Bryan at the helm.”

For the 2025–2026 term, IWPA announced additional leadership appointments:

Vice President: Colin Hotalen, Rex Lumber Company
Treasurer: Kenny MacMaster, Argo Fine Imports
Executive Committee Members-at-Large: Ryan Marsh, Robert Weed Corporation and Chris Connelly, Wood Brokerage International

To cap off the convention, attendees paraded down Canal Street in a traditional New Orleans second line before arriving at the Audubon Aquarium for a festive closing dinner surrounded by stunning marine life from around the globe. Next year’s World of Wood Convention is scheduled for March 17–19, 2026, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
