MEMPHIS, TN -- International Paper, a manufacturer and distributor of forest products, reported on Aug. 2 preliminary second-quarter 2007 net earnings of $190 million ($0.44 per share) compared with first-quarter net earnings of $434 million ($0.97 per share) and $83 million ($0.17 per share) in the second quarter of 2006. âWe had a solid second quarter, our best since 2000,â said International Paper Chairman and CEO John Faraci. âWeâre seeing continued margin expansion quarter-to-quarter, because of solid operations improvement, improved pricing and stable volumes.â
