NEWPORT, NC – Veneer Technologies Inc. has announced the judges for the 2007 Craftsman’s Challenge competition. The judges are Ed Brewer, president of the Architectural Woodwork Institute; Asa Christina, editor of Fine Woodworking magazine; and Paul Winistorfer, department head, Department of Wood Science and Forest Products, Virginia Tech. The competition aims to reward excellence in the use of natural veneer and wood products for the entire supply chain in woodworking, including end users, distributors, distributor sales representatives and student designers.
“We support this wonderful competition and this effort to promote the use of wood and natural veneer,” said Brewer. “The idea of all parts of the supply chain working together to encourage the use of veneer and wood products in the right ways, in beautiful ways, is one of the keys to ensuring that our domestic industry will thrive in the future.”
Entry materials are available through the company’s sales representatives, distributors and its Web site, www.veneertech.com. Entries will be accepted through June 8, and competition categories include: architectural woodworking, cabinetry, furniture, specialty items, store fixtures and student designs. The presentation of the prizes and other awards will be made during the Association of Woodworking and Furniture Suppliers Las Vegas show, July 18-21.
