STOUGHTON, MA - IKEA, an international manufacturer and retialer of home furnishings, has installed a solar energy system at its Stoughton, MA store.
The installation is IKEA’s 38th completed solar project. Eventually, 90% of the company’s U.S. stores will have a solar presence.
“We at IKEA believe in the never-ending job of improving the sustainability of our day-to-day business,” said Frank Briel, store manager. “The Stoughton coworkers are excited to help contribute to this goal with our newly operational solar energy system.”
Stoughton’s program will produce approximately 695,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, which is like reducing 479 tons of carbon dioxide and eliminating the emissions of 94 cars.
